Adobe XD review

To put it bluntly: Adobe XD is dead software walking. Officially in 'Maintenance Mode', it has received zero significant feature updates since the failed Figma acquisition. While Figma ships AI generators and Dev Mode, XD remains frozen in time, lacking basic modern necessities like auto-layout logic or variables.

Adobe XD in 2026: The Zombie App

To put it bluntly: Adobe XD is dead software walking. Officially in 'Maintenance Mode', it has received zero significant feature updates since the failed Figma acquisition. While Figma ships AI generators and Dev Mode, XD remains frozen in time, lacking basic modern necessities like auto-layout logic or variables.

The only reason it still exists is the Creative Cloud bundle. If you are already paying $60/month for Photoshop/Illustrator, XD is 'free'. But this is a false economy. The lack of collaborative features and the clunky prototyping engine will cost you more in lost productivity than a Figma license would cost in cash.

If you are starting a new project, do not use XD. If you have legacy files, your priority should be migrating them to Figma before the file formats drift too far apart. It is not a competitor; it is a museum piece.
